Our dedicated team of CT technologists ensures the highest quality care in diagnostic imaging. A CT, or computerized tomography, technologist plays a crucial role in conducting scans, also known as CT or CAT (computerized axial tomography) scans. These scans, which utilize special x-ray equipment, capture detailed images from various angles around the body.

Whether initiated by an emergency room visit or scheduled as part of a diagnostic procedure, our CT team is committed to delivering exceptional service. Depending on the nature of the scan, procedures typically range from 15 to 45 minutes. Our skilled staff members have undergone advanced training and possess specialized expertise in operating our state-of-the-art 64 Slice CT scanner. Our CT Department is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to serve our community and provide excellent care.

Now Offering: Lung Cancer Screening | Low-dose Computed Tomography (LDCT)

Lung cancer screening is an effective way to detect cancer early, giving you more time and options in your treatment. Low-dose CT (LDCT) is a CT scan used for lung cancer screening that takes pictures of your lungs. The LDCT scan is painless and takes less than five minutes. Doctors study the pictures to look for signs of cancer. If lung cancer is found at an earlier stage, when it is small and before it has spread, it is more likely to be treated successfully. This early detection gives lung cancer patients the best chance for remission and recovery.

Talk with your health care provider about if lung cancer screening is right for you. For people who are eligible, the cost of lung cancer screening is covered by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. However, the details of exactly who qualifies can vary.

An MRI technician uses cutting-edge technology to create high definition, three-dimensional pictures inside the body which are used by a physician to diagnose diseases. We offer the newest magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology available in the state. Our in-house MRI system features the most comprehensive clinical capabilities in the industry. For greater patient comfort, our system is equipped with a two-way intercom, patient call button, individually controlled airflow and lighting. We understand that MRI testing can be an anxiety-provoking experience, and we are making strides to reduce MRI-related stress and tension (both before and during the procedure) and to make the process as comfortable as possible for our patients.

Our MRI Technicians are all fully licensed and have received specialized training in operating MRI equipment to produce high resolution images that allow physicians to diagnose with pinpoint accuracy. Our MRI department provides service to out-patient, in-patient as well as emergency service patients.

Our Ultrasound department consists of diversified, highly skilled and trained technologists, who provide the health care community with 24-hour coverage. This type of technology is unique because it requires no radiation, which makes it safe for all types of patients.

Early Detection Puts Time on Your Side

Because early detection is the key to successfully fighting breast cancer, it is vital that every woman follow a regular schedule of breast examination. In addition to a monthly breast self-examination and a yearly clinical breast exam, women aged 40 and older should have an annual screening mammogram. In the Women's Imaging Center at Stephens Memorial Hospital, we offer a full range of breast care services - diagnosis, education and treatment - in a supportive, respectful environment.

Nuclear medicine is a imaging modality that uses small amounts of radioactive materials to diagnose and determine the severity of or treat a variety of diseases, including many types of cancers, heart disease, gastrointestinal, endocrine, and neurological disorders. Nuclear medicine imaging procedures are noninvasive and with the exception of intravenous injections, are usually painless. The uniqueness of this specialty is that the exams are of function not structure.

Here at Stephens Memorial Hospital we have the most advanced state of the art dual modality NM/CT system available. The service is available Monday through Friday. Our staff have all received advanced training and are certified by national accreditation authorities.
