Virtual Care

MaineHealth Virtual Care helps you manage your health and stay connected to your care team, without a trip to the doctor’s office.

We use secure technology to deliver high-quality care provided by trusted MaineHealth physicians, nurse practitioners and physician associates through telehealth appointments and other types of services.

What is a telehealth appointment?

During a telehealth appointment, you will meet with a health care provider by using a computer, smartphone or tablet. You can use a telehealth appointment to discuss medical concerns, review symptoms, get a prescription and more – just like an in-person appointment.

More about MaineHealth Virtual Care

A telehealth appointment is a remote appointment where you meet with a health care provider by using a computer, smartphone or tablet. You can use a telehealth appointment to discuss medical concerns, review symptoms, get a prescription and more – just like an in-person appointment.

Most insurance will cover a telehealth appointment the same way they cover in-person appointments. To understand your out-of-pocket expense, you can contact your insurance carrier and ask, “I have a telehealth appointment with a provider who is in the same health system as my primary care provider. Will this visit be covered, and can you share my estimated co-pay and out-of-pocket expense?”

Yes. We keep your information safe and use secure technology to provide high-quality care to our patients and communities.

After you schedule your telehealth appointment, you’ll receive instructions in MyChart on how to download Zoom and prepare for your visit.

For an urgent medical need that is not life-threatening, MaineHealth Walk-In Care and Urgent Care locations offer same-day medical services often with shorter wait times and lower costs than the emergency department.
