Fellowship Programs

MaineHealth Maine Medical Center (MHMMC) is an independent academic medical center serving our local diverse communities, as well as serving as a tertiary referral center for the entire state of Maine. MHMMC currently trains over 325 residents and fellows in our 20 ACGME-accredited residency programs, 19 ACGME-accredited fellowship programs and 3 rural tracks.

The robust clinical experience is supported by high-quality didactic sessions, dedicated faculty and simulation-based teaching at the Hannaford Simulation Center. Residents have ample opportunity and mentorship to pursue scholarly research projects, quality improvement projects and health care disparity projects within their training programs. MHMMC is committed to promoting well-being among our graduate medical education (GME) trainees.

A history of innovation

MHMMC has a national reputation as a leader in interprofessional, team-based training with an ACGME- and AMA- grant funded “Interprofessional Partnership to Advance Care and Education (iPACE)” grant. MHMMC is the flagship medical center of the MaineHealth system.

Rural training opportunities

MHMMC, along with the 3 other ACGME-accredited sponsoring institutions in Maine received a large grant to start the innovative “Maine Rural GME Education (MERGE) Collaborative" to create an infrastructure of rural GME training sites across rural Maine.
