Whereas, MaineHealth is committed to the provision of Graduate Medical Education (GME) in fulfillment of its institutional mission “to be a high-performance, quality GME system helping Maine become the healthiest state in the nation,” and

Whereas, it is acknowledged that the requirements for sponsors of Graduate medical Education are defined by both the Institutional Requirements of the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the Special Requirements as developed by individual Residency Review Committees, and approved through the ACGME; and

Whereas, it is acknowledged that complying with both the Institutional Requirements of the ACGME and the Special Requirements that pertain to the individual residency programs requires investment in facilities, infrastructure, and staff; and

Whereas, MaineHealth has a long history of investment in facilities, infrastructure, and staff in support of GME; therefore be it

RESOLVED that the MaineHealth formally express its commitment to providing the necessary educational, financial, administrative, clinical and human resources to support graduate medical education.
