Established in 1974, the MaineHealth Maine Medical Center (MHMMC) Pulmonary Critical Care Fellowship program is a three-year combined pulmonary disease and critical care medicine fellowship fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
Our principal training sites are MHMMC (Portland and Brighton campuses), New England Rehabilitation Hospital, the MaineHealth Institute for Research, and Chest Medicine Associates. The program presently enrolls two fellows per year.

Our program offers a broad clinical experience in the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic respiratory diseases in the inpatient (ICU and Consult Services) and outpatient settings. Practical application of pulmonary physiology, biology and experimental medicine is also a focus.
Producing thoughtful, experienced and proficient pulmonary and critical care medicine physicians is considered pivotal to our program. The research months provide a wide variety of opportunities in both clinical and basic science research.
