The MaineHealth Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Psychiatric Mental Health Fellowship program provides newly graduated APPs with:
- A formal behavioral health curriculum and structured assessments
- Behavioral health didactic and inter-professional learning opportunities
- Foundational psychiatric knowledge and training to gain competency and confidence for clinical practice
Our one-year program provides exposure to multiple psychiatric treatment settings and therapeutic modalities, while remaining flexible enough for fellows to cultivate individual professional interests—whether in clinical care, education, advocacy, quality improvement or research.
MaineHealth Behavioral Health at Spring Harbor includes dedicated child and adolescent inpatient units and serves a wide geographic region, providing care to a socio-economically and culturally diverse patient population. Fellows may also have exposure to care environments affiliated with MaineHealth Maine Medical Center, supporting integrated and collaborative learning.
The MaineHealth learning environment is rich with learners including physicians, pharmacists, nurses and other health professionals. Faculty take pride in educating and mentoring new behavioral health APPs, ensuring an optimal inter-professional learning environment.
The greater Portland area is an exceptional place to live and work. With easy access to Casco Bay, coastal beaches, scenic walking and biking trails, the Lakes Region and the nearby White Mountains, the region offers year-round opportunities for outdoor recreation. Regional public schools are excellent, and Maine is a safe and supportive environment for families. Portland is a vibrant small city with a great art, music and food scene.
