A private sibling class is offered to families with children over two years of age. This class is to help the littlest family members prepare for the birth of a new baby.
Each class is scheduled on an individual basis and is presented in the Women and Infants Health Care Unit. Your child/children will have the opportunity to see where mom will be and what a newborn looks like.
Using a doll, they learn ways to help when the new baby comes home. A video and book are often used and a snack is provided. Please call the unit, 207-505-4140, to schedule a time that is convenient for you and your family.
Waldo County General Hospital has a full complement of OB/GYN’s and certified nurse midwives to meet your healthcare needs across your lifespan. Midwives provide full range of healthcare to women throughout life. Some services include:
- Prenatal, birth and post partum care
- Annual exams
- Reproductive health visits
- Menopause management
- Patient education
Certified nurse midwives are licensed, independent health care providers with prescriptive authority. CNMs are defined as primary care providers under federal law.
We will follow safe sleep practices for your newborn while you are at Pen Bay Medical Center.
Remember Your ABCs
The safest way for your baby to sleep is:
- Alone
- On their back
- In a crib
We recommend that your baby share a room with you for at least the first 6 months of life, or ideally for the first year.
Watch a safe sleep video and learn how to safely position your baby for sleep at naptime or bedtime to help prevent sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
