Application Process
- Submit an application form
 - Upon acceptance into the volunteer program, you will be invited to attend a hospital volunteer orientation.
 - Training will be provided by a seasoned volunteer until you feel comfortable working by yourself.
 
Volunteer Guidelines
MaineHealth Mid Coast Hospital volunteers:
- Are team players—providing great customer service wherever needed
 - Have positive attitudes, and are cheerful, friendly and enthusiastic
 - Are willing to help patients and families, whatever the situation may be
 - Understand that safety is our top priority, and everybody’s business
 - Have a high respect for patients and their families
 - Absolutely understand the importance of patient confidentiality
 - Work at being good listeners and making eye contact
 - Work effectively with all care team members, paid or unpaid
 - Have the ability to follow directions well
 - Attend hospital volunteer orientation and specialized training
 - Are dependable and available for one volunteer shift a week, for at least six months
