As the largest hospital in Northern New England, Maine Medical Center regularly hosts rotating art exhibits at our primary campus in Portland. The Charles Dana Education Center is the central location for medical staff, employees, administrators and community groups to hold meetings, presentations and gatherings which results in approximately 1,000 individuals passing through the exhibit space daily.
The Rotating Arts Exhibits are a great opportunity for Maine Artists to gain more exposure as well as offering enrichment and enjoyment to patients, visitors and staff. Given that Portland is often recognized as one of the most culturally fascinating cities in the country, the visual arts are an important part of our community. Those interested in purchasing artworks on display will be directed to the artist to complete that sale with an agreement that the artist will send 20% of the proceeds from these sales to benefit the hospital art program.
Maine professional artists and art organizations are invited to submit an application for this program. The exhibits hang for approximately three months. The selection of the exhibits will be juried by the MMC Art Committee on an ongoing basis based on the Criteria for Exhibitions, the quality of the art and the sustainability for hospital patients, visitors and staff.
The Rotating Arts Exhibit is open Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM. Come on by for a visit!
