What is the difference between psychologists and psychiatrists?
- Psychiatrists are medical doctors (MD) or doctors of osteopathic medicine (DO) with training in evaluating and treating mental health conditions. They are able to prescribe medications to patients.
- Psychologists may have their master’s degree or doctorate in psychology (PhD) or education (EdD) and have experience treating patients using different psychotherapy techniques.
