What is a MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children’s Miracle Family?

A Miracle Family is a family that has benefited from the services at MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children’s (MHBBC), and is willing to share the story of their experience(s). As volunteers, a Miracle Family’s primary role is to help create awareness and raise funds for MHBBC through various philanthropic programs and events.

By sharing your experience, you’re providing a first-hand account of the impact that our state-of-the-art children’s hospital has on the community. Your story will inspire our audience to support the children’s hospital! The more support MHBBC receives from the community, the more resources we can devote to advancing the care that is provided by MHBBC.

What are the responsibilities of a MHBBC Miracle Family?

MHBBC holds many fundraising events, and works with numerous sponsors and corporate partners throughout the year. As a representative of the children’s hospital, Miracle Families might be asked to participate in one or more of the following:

• The "Cares for Kids" Radiothon
• Dairy Queen Miracle Treat Day
• The MHBBC Open golf tournament
• Sharing your story with corporate partners like Walmart or Ace Hardware
• Represent MHBBC at a variety of community events

Miracle Family Criteria

To become a MHBBC Miracle Family we ask that you fit the following criteria:

• Have had a recent experience with MHBBC (including Mother & Baby, NICU, PICU or the MHBBC in-patient unit; or with our pediatric specialty care outpatient clinics)
• Are willing to share your story on behalf of the children’s hospital and sign a release form, when applicable
• Be willing to allow us to use your story in a variety of ways including social media, web and print
