Medical interests: Outpatient medicine whether it is in the form of a subspecialty or in primary care. I enjoy building long-term connections with patients whose health, for better or for worse, I can track throughout my career and use as lessons to guide care for my patients moving forward.
Favorite place in Maine: Castine, ME. It is a very charming town in Down East Maine where my grandmother still lives to this day. Whenever I have a chance, I try to sneak up there to see her and take her down in a card game called Spite and Malice.
Why MMC: I’ve always found Maine to have a unique culture you won’t find anywhere else. It has a slower pace of life, an extremely kind community, and a self-identify that is lacking in many other states. The people of Maine are honest and genuine. I wanted to practice in a place where I knew I would connect well with my patients because medicine is not only about treating disease but creating a meaningful relationship with the patient in front of you.

Craziest / Best / Worst Job: Worst- optometry technician
Why Maine Medical Center: As a non-Maine track Tufts student, I was pleasantly surprised to find that despite being a small program, the faculty and residents matched the academic rigor and intellectual curiosity of much larger programs. My peers and even my advisor waxed poetic about how Maine residents were “the kind of people you would want to hang out with” both at and after work. Also, if you have to work long hours in residency, doing it ocean-side with restaurants and outdoor adventures aplenty doesn’t hurt either.

Before med school I: got a Masters in Health Promotion at National University of Ireland, Galway and worked for the Rhode Island Department of Health
Why MMC: for me, MMC is the best of both worlds, a smaller residency size with people who are welcoming and eager to teach, at a large, academic hospital that is a tertiary care center but that also serves such a vibrant and diverse community.
