Marjorie Zyirek-Bacon, MD, Joins PBMC, WCGH Palliative Care Team

ROCKPORT, Maine—Pen Bay Medical Center (PBMC) and Waldo County General Hospital (WCGH) are pleased to welcome Marjorie Zyirek-Bacon, MD, to their palliative care teams.

Dr. Zyirek-Bacon received her doctor of medicine degree from University of Massachusetts Medical School and completed her residency in internal medicine at UMass Medical Center, where she then served as chief medical resident. She then completed a fellowship in cardiology at UMass Medical Center. After her cardiology practice, she completed a fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at Maine Medical Center. Dr. Zyirek-Bacon also served as assistant professor of medicine at UMass Medical School and at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston.

Palliative care is specialized care that focuses on providing relief from the pain, symptoms and stress of a serious illness. It also provides emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients and their families as they plan for the future.
