Welcome to the MaineHealth Maine Medical Center weather page. Our day-to-day operating status is “All Operations are Normal.” We will use this page to notify you when severe weather has caused us to activate our “Extreme Weather Protocol,” and to provide further instructions. Current Status:
Jan. 23, 2026 -- A large winter storm is expected to reach the region beginning Sunday evening, with significant snowfall, heavy winds and low temperatures through Monday evening.
MHMMC Portland will make a limited number of hotel rooms available from 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, through 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, to accommodate MHMMC employees who must travel and aren’t comfortable traveling in the storm.
To access emergency lodging, please contact the following hotels directly in the order below (moving on to the next hotel if the first is full) and tell them you are an MHMMC employee:
- Clarion Hotel (1230 Congress St.) – Visit Clarion Hotel, select EDIT to adjust nights staying. Fill out contact and credit card info (you will not be billed).
- AC Hotel (158 Fore St.) – Click this link: AC Hotel MaineHealth Jan Storm Block 1 Select Date range and submit credit card info (you will not be billed).
- Aloft (379 Commercial St.) –– Click this link: Aloft MaineHealth January Storm Block 2 Select Date range and submit credit card info (you will not be billed).
- Hampton Inn (209 Fore St.) – Before 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, call 207-541-9756. After this time, instead call the Hotel Front Desk at 207-775-1454 and select “zero” on the automated prompt to speak with reservations team.
- (Please only reserve one hotel room per time period; duplicate reservations block your colleagues from securing a reservation. Only book for yourself; do not book for colleagues.)
Care team members must:
- Contact the hotel to secure a room prior to arriving at the hotel
- Display their MMC badge upon check-in
Care team members should park in the St. John Street Garage, take the shuttle to the South Entrance and call 661-0802 to get an MHMMC Shuttle to their hotel. To get a shuttle back to MHMMC, call 661-0802.
MMC will only provide financial coverage for hotel rooms. Additional charges for food, beverages, etc. are the responsibility of the employees. Please remember, there is no smoking in the hotel rooms.
Please Note: Care team members who are able to work from home should consider doing so on Monday if they feel travel would be problematic, in coordination with their supervisor.
In appreciation for everyone’s efforts, our Nutrition Services team at the Bramhall Café is pleased to offer badged care team members complimentary hot beverages and fountain drinks from Sunday 8 p.m. through Monday 8 p.m. (Please note, the Pavilion Grill is closed Monday.)
