Apply & Contact

MaineHealth Maine Medical Center (MHMMC) will be accepting applications through the new nationwide ResidencyCAS Application Platform, and all PGY-1 residents in the institution are selected through process. MHMMC is only able to sponsor applicants/residents who carry a J-1 Visa at this time (F-1 visa applicants are not eligible to apply.)

Each medical student must complete their ResidencyCAS application which includes a transcript of grades, Dean's letter (Medical Student Performance Evaluation) and three letters of recommendation, including one SLOE, which can be submitted directly through the ResidencyCAS platform. MHMMC is a full participant in the APGO/CREOG Right Resident, Right Program, Ready Day One Initiative, including the Alignment Check Index. National leaders from APGO and CREOG have been working to smooth the UME to GME transition. As part of that initiative, collectively agreed upon national standards exist around the OBGYN residency application and interview process. For more information on OBGYN SLOE and the RRR Grant please reference the APGO website. There are excellent resources to guide candidate students through the application process. MHMMC adheres to all of these guidelines. We will review all applicants if they have completed USLME Step 1. COMLEX are also accepted in addition to USLME scores. Applications must be received by September 25, 2024. After all of these materials have been received, the application will be reviewed and a decision made concerning a personal virtual interview.

Please note: It is strongly considered that applicant candidates possess a valid driver’s license and automobile to enable them to get to offsite rotations/surgeries, although this is not a firm requirement.

Interviews

We will be booking all of our interviews through ResidencyCAS. Initial release of interviews will be on October 29th, with rolling offers to follow. Please note that an offer of an interview is not a guarantee for a candidate to interview, and candidates must accept the invitation within a timely manner. Again, in compliance with APGO/CREOG guidelines, if an applicant fails to accept an interview offer within 48 hours, the offer may be extended to a subsequent candidate and the opportunity may no longer be available

Interviews will be completely virtual and are scheduled in the fall through early winter. We have a committed group of core physicians who volunteer to interview every year, and include residents as formal interviewers. Candidates will have opportunities to discuss the program with the Residency Director, faculty, and residents. Specific dates will be determined by October 1.
