The Barbara Bush Children's Hospital

About The Barbara Bush Children's Hospital

The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center (BBCH) is large enough to provide all the advanced specialty services and state-of-the-art technology your child may need. Yet we remain small enough to deliver highly compassionate and personalized care.

Family-centered care

As Maine’s only full-service children’s hospital, we offer everything from well-child visits to specialized medical and surgical treatment of complex pediatric illnesses and injuries. Children and families receive care that’s responsive to their unique needs. Our network of doctors, nurses and other medical professionals are committed to including parents and family members as part of the care team.

From routine check-ups and immunizations, to the treatment of life-threatening pediatric conditions, we provide comprehensive, family-centered health care for all of northern New England. With 116 beds, including 31 Level III NICU Beds, 20 Level II Continuing Care Nursery beds and 8 PICU beds, BBCH is Maine's premier pediatric referral hospital.

We were rated the fourth safest hospital in the U.S. and our nurses were recently rated in the top 3% world-wide for nursing excellence. We're also proud to be a gold certified National Sleep Safe Hospital.
