How to request a price estimate
Patient Financial Services can help you with price estimates, quotes and packaged costs for pre-scheduled services at most MaineHealth locations. You can also visit CompareMaine, NH HealthCost for information about the costs of common medical procedures - with or without health insurance.

Which methods can I use to pay my bill (check, cash, credit card)?
MaineHealth accepts payments made by cash, check, money order or credit card. We accept Visa, Master Card, Discover Card, American Express and your bank debit card.
Payments may be made:
- By mail: Use the return envelope that came with your consolidated billing statement to make a payment by check, money order or credit card.
- By phone: contacting the MaineHealth Patient Financial Services department at 207-887-5100 or toll free at 866-804-2499.
You also can pay in person at any MaineHealth organization's Cashier's Office.
Why am I being billed when I have insurance?
Many insurance companies have benefit levels which the patient must pay. These are deductible, co-pay or co-insurance amounts. If your insurance plan requires you to pay a deductible or co-insurance, the balance will be billed to you. If you have a question about why your insurance company did not pay part of a claim, you should call your health insurance company directly.
When is payment of my bill expected?
Full payment within 30 days of the first consolidated patient statement. The due date is reflected on your statement.
What if I cannot pay my bill in full within 30 days?
We are pleased to offer our patients an interest free monthly installment plan for those patients unable to pay amounts due in full.
If I can’t afford to pay the bill I receive, are there any options?
Your inability to pay for care will never prevent you from receiving medically necessary services. MaineHealth has programs that can assist you with your hospital or physician bill.
If my insurance company has pre-certification, prior approval or notification requirements for specific services, am I responsible for completing this task?
Insurance requirements vary depending upon the insurance company and services provided. To ensure maximum coverage, you should contact the physician rendering the service to ensure the referral or authorization, if required, has been obtained.
What is an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) or Explanation of Payment (EOP)?
These are documents showing a detailed listing of how your insurance company processed your claim or bill. An EOB or EOP is mailed by your insurance company directly to you. If you did not receive an explanation from your insurance company, please contact them directly for this information.
