Healing Power of Art

The Coastal Healthcare Alliance strives to create healing and positive environments at Pen Bay Medical Center and Waldo County General Hospital. Art helps to enhance the experience for our patients, families, visitors and care team members.

Calling all Artists!

The Pen Bay and Waldo Art Committee is currently accepting online applications from artists with connections to Maine and New England for an opportunity to display their art at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport or Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast for a period of 12 weeks. We seek works of art that reflect our mission and vision:

  • Mission: Welcome our visitors with warmth and wonder with art that feels comforting and engaging, through the integration of art and artists that celebrate the diversity, history, and beauty of the region, to enhance the connection to each other and our community.
  • Vision: Celebrate the healing power of art.

Interested in participating? Please review our guidelines then submit your application online by February 29, 2024.

Thanks to our Donors

Donors have brought new life and light into the cancer care department at Pen Bay Medical Center with the purchase and installation of 18 pieces of original art reproduced on metal. The walls now feature light-filled, uplifting works by Maine artists Louise Bourne and Judy Taylor.

A reproduction of a painting called "Channel Rock Triptych II" by Louise Bourne is shown hanging on a wall in the Pen Bay Medical Center cancer care department.
