September 4, 2026 Update
We are expanding and strengthening obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) care at MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital while ensuring every patient has access to safe, high-quality maternity care at MaineHealth Mid Coast Hospital.
We are pleased to share that two board-certified physicians have signed contracts to join the integrated MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital and MaineHealth Mid Coast Hospital OB/GYN and maternity care team. Both physicians have ties to Maine and community-based care experience through the Tufts University School of Medicine MaineHealth Maine Track program. They are excited to join an excellent, community-based care team and support an integrated model that provides:
- Gynecological, surgical and prenatal/postpartum care at MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital
- Labor and delivery care at MaineHealth Mid Coast Hospital
Our current care team members are also actively preparing to come together as one integrated practice. All MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital physicians who have expressed interest in remaining with our coastal region OB/GYN and maternity care team have been offered opportunities within the integrated model.
MaineHealth leaders are continuing individual conversations with nurses and other care team members and supporting them through the transition. We are identifying opportunities that align with patient care needs; each person’s skills and interests; and availability at MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital, MaineHealth Mid Coast Hospital and elsewhere across MaineHealth.
Plans are under way to add a perinatal ambulatory nurse to:
- Strengthen patient education, support and care coordination
- Expanded gynecologic services
Our high-quality prenatal care services continue at MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital, and patients continue to have access to their OB/GYN or midwifery care team for questions and support.
All MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital OB/GYN patients have received outreach by phone, MyChart and mail. During scheduled visits, providers are discussing individualized care plans, delivery planning and next steps.
Practice managers and care team members will have a helpful information packet to share with patients:
- MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital and MaineHealth Mid Coast Hospital provider information
- Key contact details
- A clear overview of what patients can expect as part of their care
The MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital emergency department and local EMS partners continue focused education and training for obstetrical and neonatal emergencies.
- Training includes emergency delivery, maternal emergencies, neonatal stabilization and transfer.
- Equipment, protocols and response pathways are in place to support urgent obstetrical situations.
