Nursing excellence awards
Every year during Nurse's Week in May, we celebrate our outstanding nurses by honoring their exemplary work with nursing excellence awards. These awards are submitted by their peers and voted on by a voting committee and presented to the winners.
- Nurse Excellence Award: Awarded to nurses who role model patient care clinical RN/APRNs and demonstrates excellence in direct patient care, including the fundamentals of care.
- Nurses As Teachers Award: Awarded to a nurse who contributes to enhancing education for staff/patients.
- Laura Vogel Humanitarian Award: Awarded to a nurse who meets the following criteria: Selflessly donates personal resources for the benefit of others, displays a passion for a particular cause, project, or initiative, promotes and engages others in voluntary participation, and clearly demonstrates humanitarianism through behaviors and actions.
- Emerging Bright Star Award: Awarded to a nurse who is off probation, has been a nurse for less than two years, and meets the following criteria: Demonstrates a commitment to safe patient and family centered care and quality nursing practice, Possess leadership that inspires others to follow their example, Collaborates with others on the healthcare team, and Shows excellence of care of the patient at the bedside.
- DAISY Nurse Leader Award: Awarded to a nursing leader that meets the following criteria: Creating an environment where attributes of trust, compassion, mutual respect, continued professional development and ethical behavior are modeled and supported, Being accessible, available, and responsive to the needs of their team, Problem-solving and encouraging critical thinking, Advocating for their teams, Ensuring that the needs of the teams are communicated to organization leadership and organizational priorities and directions are communicated to their teams, and Being compassionate leaders.
- DAISY Team Award: Awarded to a team that meets all the following criteria: Teams must be led by a nurse or group of nurses, be comprised of 2 or more individual, exemplify your organization’s values and embody your mission, are role models of collaboration and teamwork that make a difference in the lives of patient, families, employees, the community and the project should be described in detail, including outcomes.
- Nursing Research Awards: Awarded annually to outstanding nursing clinical scholars whom make a significant contribution to the advancement of nursing science leading to a substantial positive effect on patient or professional outcomes.
