Apply & Contact | Gastroenterology Fellowship

The MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Gastroenterology Fellowship supports a total of six positions, with two fellows accepted per year. Eligible candidates must have successfully completed three years of internal medicine training in an ACGME-accredited residency program and be board-eligible in internal medicine by the ABIM.

Applications are accepted exclusively through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS®). Completed applications are reviewed by program leadership, and selected applicants will be invited to interview. Fellowship positions are filled through the Medical Specialties Matching Program (MSMP) of the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP®).

Requirements

  • Letter of recommendation from Residency Program Director
  • Two additional letters of recommendation from attending physicians (ideally gastroenterologists or hepatologists) with whom you have worked in a U.S. teaching hospital during residency
  • Official USMLE or COMLEX transcripts
  • U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or international applicants eligible for a J-1 Visa
  • Supplemental application (see below)

Interviews

All applications are carefully reviewed prior to the release of interview invitations. Qualified applicants will receive a supplemental application, which must be completed for further consideration.

  • Application review period: July–August
  • Interview invitations sent: September (via email)
  • Interview dates: Friday afternoons in October and early November

Interviews are conducted virtually and are required for consideration. Only complete applications will be reviewed.
