Our dedicated teams partner with providers, medical staff leaders, hospitals and health plans to ensure efficient provider support while maintaining compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation and organizational requirements.

Provider enrollment

The MaineHealth provider enrollment services (PES) team facilitates timely and accurate insurance enrollment for MaineHealth providers. We manage the submission of enrollment applications, credentialing verification with payors, and ensure providers are correctly linked to MaineHealth across commercial insurers, Medicare and Medicaid. 

Our work reduces administrative delays, supports timely reimbursement and helps providers begin practicing without disruption. Services include:

Provider credentialing

The MaineHealth credentialing verification organization (CVO) serves as a trusted partner in provider onboarding and ongoing credentialing support. The CVO performs comprehensive primary source verification of provider qualifications, including education, training, licensure, certification and professional history in accordance with state regulations and national accreditation standards, including:

  • National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)
  • Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC)
  • Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
  • The Joint Commission (TJC)

The CVO delivers accurate, consistent and timely credentialing services that support provider readiness, patient safety and regulatory compliance. Services include:

  • Primary source verification of provider credentials
  • Initial credentialing and recredentialing support
  • Maintenance of credentialing records
  • Ongoing monitoring of licensure, certification and other credentialing requirements

Provider privileging and governance

The MaineHealth medical staff services (MSS) team supports clinical practice integrity by ensuring physicians and advanced practice providers are appropriately credentialed, privileged and supported in accordance with governing documents and regulatory requirements.

The MSS team partners closely with hospital leadership, department chairs and medical staff committees to maintain compliance with The Joint Commission, CMS and applicable state regulations. In addition to privileging support, the MSS team coordinates medical staff governance, committee operations and official documentation to promote consistent, defensible, decision-making across the system. Services include:
