Behavioral Health Internship | Maine Health Behavioral Health

The MaineHealth Behavioral Health (MHBH) Clinical Behavioral Health Internship program supports bachelor, masters, and doctoral level students in social work, clinical mental health, psychology and related programs. 

Placements include generalist experiences for those in bachelor programs or their first year of graduate school as well as specialized clinical experiences for advanced candidates.

Shaping the future of behavioral health care

Placements follow a cohort model, with the majority beginning each September and running through May. Available placements differ in focus and location from year to year. Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Outpatient resource management internship in Brunswick, Maine
  • Case management internship in Rockland, Maine
  • Clinical/specialist internships in primary care/specialty care settings
  • Clinical/specialist internship with the assertive community treatment team in Portland, Maine
  • Internships in PHP, IOP and inpatient settings

Who is eligible to participate in the MHBH Clinical Behavioral Health Internship program?

Students who are currently enrolled in an accredited institution of higher education (college or university) and require a practicum or internship experience for their undergraduate or graduate degree are welcome to apply.
