Health Plans: Overview
MaineHealth sponsors two health plans administered through Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maine. No matter which plan you choose, you will have high-quality health coverage and access to a broad network of health care providers and facilities.
If you’re a new employee and want more detailed plan information, visit the library in the MaineHealth Benefits Portal. If you are currently enrolled in the health plan and are looking for plan information such as checking your claims, requesting a new ID card, or finding providers in network, visit Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maine.

Health Savings Account (HSA)
An HSA is an interest-earning, tax-advantaged account. It’s a valuable financial tool that helps you make the most of the dollars you spend on current and future health care expenses for yourself or your tax dependents. Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
FSAs allow you to pay certain out-of-pocket health care, dependent care and transit expenses with pre-tax dollars. You can use the money you contribute to your FSA to pay for certain expenses that are not fully covered by your health, dental or vision plans. Dependent Eligibility Audit
MaineHealth conducts an eligibility audit of all employees with new dependents enrolled in benefit plans. The Dependent Verification Center, Aon Hewitt, will mail a packet to your home with specific details on the required documentation. More information can be found on the MaineHealth Benefits Portal. Leave of Absence/Disability Coverage
If you cannot work due to your own injury or illness, MaineHealth provides short-term disability (STD) and long-term disability (LTD) coverage. More information can be found on the MaineHealth Benefits Portal or learn more from Unum on how to file a leave request and/or a short-term disability claim.
