Debra J Johnson, FNP
- Nurse Practitioner, Family
I was born in Stephens Memorial Hospital, grew up in the Oxford Hills area, and went to college in Maine. After getting married, my husband joined the military, and for 23 years, we traveled, and I worked as a nurse in many different geographical locations. When he retired, there was no question that we would return to Maine. I was thrilled to become part of what was then Oxford Hills Internal Medicine 11 years ago (now known as Western Maine Primary Care, Internal Medicine).
Caring for patients in this very special corner of Maine, which I am proud to call home, means the world to me. Establishing a connection with people who have lived here for their entire lives and those who moved here later in life is an honor for me. Listening to patients' concerns regarding their health and making a plan that includes their values and wishes together with them is important to me. My core philosophy as a nurse practitioner is to educate patients and their families to facilitate their knowledge while being mindful of what is most important to them. I value being in a "partnership" with a patient.
I look forward to many more years of being a part of our amazing team and continuing to care for my community.
