Beginning Thursday, Feb. 10, most pediatric and obstetrics patients will be allowed two visitors.
PORTLAND, Maine – Maine Medical Center announced the following changes to its visitor policy, effective today:
- Pediatrics: Two parents/guardians allowed per day as patient condition allows.
- Obstetrics: Two support people during labor and delivery, as patient condition allows.
- Emergency Department: Two parents/guardians for pediatric patients, provided space is sufficient to achieve compliance with social distancing.
- Ambulatory/Diagnostic Areas: Pediatric patients may be accompanied by two parents/guardians, provided space is sufficient to achieve compliance with social distancing.
- Scarborough Surgery Center: Pediatric patients can have two parents or guardians with them in the building.
One support person is allowed as patient condition allows in the Mother/Baby unit and at MMC’s Prenatal Center. More detailed visitation information on visitation at The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital and the MMC Family Birth Center can be found here.
MMC continues to require masking in its facilities and encourages social distancing and hand hygiene whenever possible. While MMC does not require visitors to be vaccinated, the hospital strongly recommends everyone who is eligible receive COVID-19 vaccinations and booster shots.
