About our Clinic

Our clinic cares for patients of all ages and supports learners from multiple areas of healthcare including medical assistant trainees, nurse practitioner trainees, medical students and resident physicians. Our clinic serves a typical cross section of Portland’s population and includes a large, diverse immigrant community with 30+ languages spoken, in addition to other marginalized populations. We practice primary care in a way that supports the whole person/family with the help of many team members (dieticians, behavioral health clinicians, early childhood support specialists, case managers, community health workers, etc). We are very proud of the work we do in supporting a dual mission of educating healthcare providers of the future and providing a safe and thoughtful care environment for often marginalized groups in our community.

The student will work closely with dual board-certified primary care physicians and IM-Peds residents. They will be able to practice gathering histories, examining patients and will be exposed to a wide array of both medical and social issues that impact the health of our community. We will discuss best practices and guidelines in both Adult and Pediatric primary care as well as the art of delivering longitudinal, team-based care to patients and families. Our hope is to educate and inspire students to consider residencies in combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics as well as appreciate the essential role that high quality primary care serves in our healthcare environment.
