APP Student Clinical Rotations

MaineHealth offers clinical rotations for advanced practice provider (APP) students enrolled in accredited nurse practitioner (NP) certified nurse midwife (CNM), certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) and physician associate (PA) programs. 

Clinical rotation application instructions for CNM, NP and PA learners only:

MaineHealth uses the Clinician Nexus platform to intake student applications and manage clinical rotations. 

• Rotation applications should be submitted at least three months in advance of your rotation start date but no more than six months in advance. Applications received outside of the six-month window WILL NOT BE REVIEWED and you will need to re-apply.
• If you have more than one request, please submit a form for each.
• Please note that request submission does not guarantee placement.
• If we are able to identify a preceptor for you, we will work with you and your school to initiate an affiliation agreement, onboard and clear you for your rotation.

Applying for a rotation:

1. Create an Clinician Nexus account.
2. Click “Find Clinical Experiences” in the bottom left corner of your account.
3. Search for a rotation opportunity by selecting “preceptorship” under “Experience Types” or by typing “preceptorship” into the keyword search bar.
4. Select the MaineHealth application that describes the specialty for the rotation you are applying for.

Important: Your school will need to confirm you as a student prior to MaineHealth rotation acceptance.
