MaineHealth Neurology Scarborough provides comprehensive neurological evaluations for peripheral nerve and muscle conditions, including electrophysiological testing. Our neuromuscular specialists care for patients with a variety of acquired, autoimmune and inherited disorders of the:

  • Nerves (neuropathies)
  • Muscles (myopathies)

Our dedicated muscular dystrophy clinic is accredited by the Muscular Dystrophy Association and is also part their national network. We provide care for patients with disorders such as muscular dystrophies, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease and other hereditary neuropathies. Our multi-disciplinary team includes a neurologist, a physical therapist, an occupational therapist, a speech therapist and a social worker.

    • EMG is a diagnostic test used to help diagnose disorders of the peripheral nervous system. EMG tests are usually performed in combination with nerve conduction studies.
  • Skin biopsies to evaluate epidermal nerve fiber density
