PLDF Program Curriculum

PLDF Learning Sessions

Our program structure features day-long learning sessions, based on principles of adult learning. The curriculum is grounded in real-world experience and our highly-interactive sessions support specific learning outcomes. Each learning session focuses on key leadership competencies including:

  • Managing conflict
  • Influence without authority
  • Leading transitions and change
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Business of medicine
  • Quality and performance improvement
  • Leading high performing teams
  • Coaching and mentoring

360 Leadership Practices Inventory Assessment

Participants are expected to conduct a formal assessment of their leadership competencies and use the feedback to develop an action plan to build their leadership capacity. PLDF staff have selected a validated instrument, the Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI), for this baseline assessment.

The LPI is a web-based tool that identifies the five practices of exemplary leadership and includes instruments for self assessment, and assessment by others. Participants request feedback from their peers, direct reports and supervisors. PLDF staff generates a report summarizing this feedback for each participant. Participants use their reports to inform an action plan that guides development of individual leadership skills.
