PORTLAND, MAINEThe Glickman Lauder Center of Excellence in Autism and Developmental Disorders, Maine’s nationally recognized provider of multi-level care, research and training, will present the first in its new community education series of free webinars for parents and caregivers, at noon on Thursday, March 17.

Presented by the Center’s clinical director, Kimberly Loika-Smith, LCSW, and outpatient psychologist and board certified behavior analyst, Christine Dub, Ph.D., “Understanding Behaviors: A Closer Look at Your Child’s Anxiety” will focus on recognizing and managing anxiety in children with autism spectrum disorder, when to seek professional help and what to expect from treatment. The one-hour, Zoom-based webinar is offered at no charge, but advance registration is required.

“As Maine’s leading continuum of care provider to people with autism and developmental disorders, our goal with the monthly webinar series is to help parents and caregivers understand the broad array of resources and strategies available to them,” said the Center’s director, Matthew Siegel, MD, Vice President of Medical Affairs of Maine Behavioral Healthcare’s developmental disorders service line. “Our specially trained providers look forward to sharing their expertise in the emotional and behavioral needs of people with autism and other developmental disorders and how to use evidence-based practices to meet each person’s distinctive needs.”

The Glickman Lauder Center of Excellence in Autism and Developmental Disorders webinar series for parents and caregivers will be presented on the third Thursday of each month and feature presenters from Maine Behavioral Healthcare and experts from other behavioral health agencies.
