Maine Behavioral Healthcare and Maine Educational Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Present Free Webinar for Parents, Caregivers

February 8, 2022

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — Maine Behavioral Healthcare and the Maine Educational Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing will present “Finding Your Inner Hero,” a free, one-hour webinar for parents and caregivers of children who are deaf or hard of hearing, at 7:30 pm, Tuesday, February 15. To join the Zoom-based presentation, please register online. ASL interpretation will be provided during the webinar.

The program will focus on services for parents and caregivers provided by Maine Behavioral Healthcare, the Maine Educational Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing at the Governor Baxter School for the Deaf, and within the community. The webinar also will include time for interactive discussion, with an emphasis on building and supporting resilience among parents and caregivers during the pandemic.

The program will be led by Kristine Gile, a licensed professional clinical counselor and program manager of Maine Behavioral Healthcare’s Deaf Counseling Services, and Kevin Bohlin, Public School Outreach Coordinator at the Maine Educational Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

“’Finding Your Inner Hero’ is an opportunity to recognize that while each parent or caregiver has strength and skills, we all can be stronger as a team and with resources,” Gile said. “Through this program, we can learn more about our strengths, our understanding of the education system and our self-care strategies. Ultimately, we can apply what we know to be true -- that it takes a village to raise a child.”

For more information, please contact Kristine Gile at 207-619-5747 (VP/VRS).
