Cornell Stinson, who has more than 20 years of fundraising and donor relations experience in mental health care and higher education, has been named director of development at MBH
SOUTH PORTLAND, MAINE – Kelly Barton, president of Maine Behavioral Healthcare, announced today that the state’s leading behavioral health provider has appointed a veteran fundraising leader to serve as the organization’s director of development.
Cornell Stinson brings more than 20 years of fundraising and donor relations experience to the new cabinet-level position at MBH. His many leadership roles include serving as senior associate vice president of institutional advancement at Kent State University, partner and senior philanthropic advisor at New Profit Inc., assistant dean of development and alumni relations at Boston University’s School of Law and deputy director of leadership gifts at Harvard Law School. His most recent successes in fundraising include serving as campaign manager and strategic gifts officer and interim director of development at MBH, where he managed the $7.35 million capital campaign for the new 28,000-square-foot Glickman Lauder Center of Excellence in Autism and Developmental Disorders in Portland, which opened in August 2021.

In his new role, Stinson serves on the MBH executive leadership team, manages a team of three development professionals and is responsible for all fundraising activities, including donor stewardship and communications.

A former practicing attorney, Stinson received his J.D. at Case Western Reserve University’s Thomas Backus School of Law and a bachelor’s in government at Cornell University.
