One of the biggest challenges of being sick in the hospital is the loss of identity and control that can come with it. My favorite part of working in Hospital Medicine is having the opportunity to provide care that genuinely centers the patient; to work closely with them, their loved ones, and the rest of the care team to provide the best care possible—care that is rooted in who the patient is. To know there is a dedicated and cohesive team looking out for you can take the edge off an otherwise tough situation, and to be a part of this team is a huge privilege for me.
