After completing a fourth-year sub-internship at Maine Medical Center, I felt genuinely welcomed and supported by everyone I worked with. The residents and attendings fostered a collaborative environment and demonstrated a strong commitment to teaching. I was also drawn to the program’s close-knit culture and approachable size. Having attended medical school in Maine, I developed a personal connection to the area and hope to continue my training in Portland. Its balance of a vibrant small-city atmosphere, access to beautiful coastal surroundings, and excellent food scene makes it an ideal place to live and train.
