What did you do before medical school?
I had 5 years between finishing undergrad and starting medical school. My first year after I lived in France teaching English! When I got back I moved to Chicago and did a post-bacc as I had been an international relations major in college. I worked as a barista and research interviewer for a couple of years. My final two years before I started medical school I was a clinical research coordinator at Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago.
Why MaineHealth Maine Medical Center?
Maine Medical Center has a great mix of both academic and community aspects that I really appreciated. I wanted to be able to work with medical students in an academic environment while being in a smaller program in which I can really grow as a physician. Portland is home for me but also a really vibrant city with an increasingly diverse population and a wide array of pathologies!
