July 21, 2025

BELFAST, ME — MaineHealth Waldo Hospital (MHWH) is proud to continue its three-year partnership with Eastern Maine Community College (EMCC) to offer a local distance learning program designed to prepare students for careers as registered nurses (RNs).

This two-year program, hosted at the MHWH campus, allows students to attend virtual classes in a state-of-the-art classroom while completing their hands-on clinical training at the hospital. By the end of the program, students are fully equipped with the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to sit for their nursing board examination.

Free information sessions are available for those interested in learning more:

  • Wednesday, July 24, 11 a.m. to noon – Virtual (Zoom)
  • Wednesday August 7, 10-11 a.m. – MaineHealth Waldo Hospital Classroom, 116 Northport Ave., Belfast, (ground floor)
  • Wednesday August 7, 1-2 p.m. MaineHealth Pen Bay Hospital, Center for Excellence Conference Room 1, 6 Glen Cove Drive., Rockport

Attendees will learn about EMCC’s Associate Degree in Nursing program and the local cohort model, which allows students to complete most of their training within the Waldo community. The sessions will also cover the application process, prerequisites and other requirements, and provide information about scholarships, tuition reimbursement, and loan forgiveness opportunities.

Participants will have the chance to connect with instructors, hospital representatives, and alumni who have successfully completed the program and are now working in the field.

These sessions are a great opportunity to explore how you can launch your nursing career locally while gaining the skills needed for a rewarding role in healthcare.
