Strike Out Cancer in Kids

Strike Out Cancer in Kids (SOCK) is more than just a fundraising program—it’s a powerful community movement supporting the Maine Children’s Cancer Program (MCCP), Maine’s leading provider of comprehensive care for children with cancer and blood disorders.

Now in its 31st season, SOCK is driven by the Portland Sea Dogs, local businesses, and dedicated community members like you, all united by a common goal: to strike out childhood cancer once and for all.

Over the past three decades, this beloved program has raised millions of dollars in vital funding and awareness for MCCP. What makes it truly special? Each season, a courageous MCCP patient is honored as a Slugger Kid—serving as a program ambassador and enjoying a summer of baseball fun, hope, and hero status.

This year, the excitement is bigger than ever with a friendly fundraising rivalry between Team Slugger and Team Slugger Kid! Whether you're rallying behind the big mascot himself or cheering on the next generation of heroes, every dollar raised makes a difference in the lives of local children and their families.
