Campaign for Coastal Health

Join us in building the future of health care for midcoast Maine.

In recent years, Coastal Healthcare Alliance embarked on a campaign to build a new Health Center, as well as expand and enhance the Emergency Department at Pen Bay Medical Center. With generous support from the community, we celebrated the opening of our new Health Center in December 2020. With this milestone behind us, we are now focused on raising the funds necessary to break ground on the Emergency Department project in the spring of 2021.

Today, we are poised to become an even stronger hub for the primary care, specialty care, and emergency care services that you, your family, and your neighbors need. But we can’t do it without your help. The Campaign for Coastal Health will ensure that Pen Bay Medical Center can meet these challenges working side by side with Waldo County General Hospital. Our vision depends on your support. We invite you to learn more and join us in building the future of healthcare for midcoast Maine.

Breaking Ground at Pen Bay Medical Center for the Emergency Department expansion and renovation!

The renovation and expansion of the Emergency Department is scheduled to begin this spring and has a planned completion date of November of 2022. This project will better accommodate the needs of patients and our care providers. The Emergency Department renovation and expansion will provide a state-of-the-art facility and almost double the exam rooms for patient care.

The expansion of the Emergency Department will improve access-to-care in our community providing:

  • An increased number of exam rooms, from 13 to 21, and increasing our triage rooms from one to two.
  • Address the growing demand for psychiatric and addiction services by having a specialized behavioral health suite, including three patient rooms, a patient’s lounge, a nurse’s station and a dedicated staff workspace.
  • An additional 5,000 square feet
  • Space to house new technology and medical equipment.
  • Reduce patient wait times and increases privacy for patients and visitors.
  • Improve patient flow.
