PORTLAND, Maine U.S. News & World Report has named Maine Medical Center (MMC) as the #1 hospital in Maine for 2022-2023. This is the 10th straight year that MMC has been named as a Best Regional Hospital. U.S. News also rated MMC as “high performing” in 14 common procedures and conditions included in the annual survey of U.S. hospitals.

“MMC’s care team does extraordinary work and it is gratifying to see their efforts reflected in the U.S. News ratings year after year,” said MMC President Jeff Sanders. “Ten years is a long time to be rated as number one in the state, and it’s a reflection of our team’s consistent dedication to quality patient- centered care.”

The annual Best Hospitals rankings and ratings, now in their 33rd year, are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive quality care for challenging health conditions or elective procedures. For the 2022-2023 Best Hospitals rankings and ratings, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 hospitals nationwide. Fewer than half of all hospitals received any “high performing” rating.
