Event raises funds for SMHC’s Spiritual Care Program

BIDDEFORD, Maine – This June, Southern Maine Health Care (SMHC) presents an online gardening series to raise funds for their Spiritual Care Services department. “Sowing and Growing” runs from June 11 – 26, and features talks by local gardening experts. Topics include: creating a labyrinth, native plants for pollinators, farming oysters, horticultural therapy, creating sacred and healing gardens, and organic vegetable gardens. A $100 ticket provides access to the entire series, including recordings if you miss a live viewing.

Sowing and Growing presenters include Cameron Barner, owner of Love Point Oysters, Irene Barber from Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Sue Gordon of Zen in Kennebunk, Mort Mather of Joshua’s Restaurant in Wells, Amy Witt of Earthwalkers, and Members of SMHC’s Spiritual Care Program. Jim Godbout and Broadway Gardens are among sponsors of the event.

“We’re grateful to be the beneficiary of such an exciting and timely event,” says Shelly Snow, director of Spiritual Care Services at SMHC. “Gardening is good for the soul, and we want to cultivate that wellbeing among our patients and community.”
