Curriculum

Our one-year curriculum includes:

  • 34 weeks of surgical intensive care
  • 8 weeks emergency general surgery/trauma
  • 4 weeks cardiovascular intensive care
  • 2 weeks neurocritical care
  • 2 weeks medical intensive care
  • Weekly conferences: core curriculum series, critical care research, internal medicine grand rounds
  • Monthly conferences: simulation (cognitive and procedural), journal club, morbidity & mortality, fellows’ case presentations, critical care grand rounds, multi-disciplinary ECHO

The Hannaford Center for Safety, Innovation and Simulation at Maine Medical Center offers high-tech and realistic simulation—allowing medical students, residents and fellows to learn new techniques and enhance their skills through repeated practice and review.
