Program Mission & Overview

Mission:

The mission of our program is to incorporate a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach to foster clinical, academic and leadership skills in a comprehensive critical care training environment as learners develop a strong foundation for a successful career in critical care medicine.

Goals:

  • Provide a nurturing environment with teaching by faculty committed to respect in the face of diversity, collaboration, life – long learning and empathy for those suffering
  • Teach state of the art critical care via clinical and didactic training across different specialty intensive care units under the guidance of expert clinical faculty
  • Expand and apply medical knowledge through research, scholarship and mentorship. Fellows participate in research and demonstrate competence by presenting at local, regional, national or international conferences; publish in peer - reviewed journals and participate in educational activities, establishing themselves as leaders in the field
  • Establish a culture of safety and quality improvement as measured by fellow participation and development of departmental, institutional, health system and/or community initiatives
  • Foster a culture of wellness in our fellows, attendings and staff and teaching the importance of maintaining a balanced approach to life
  • Continually reflect and strive to improve the educational program to meet the needs of new generations of learners and encourage each fellow to use their unique attributes in their contribution to the program’s learning environment as they prepare for a career in critical care medicine
