Cove's Edge CNAs Receive Scholarships for Nursing School

September 20, 2018

Cove’s Edge Certified Nursing Assistants Christine Barter, Ashleigh Teele, and Maria Genthner receive the 2018 Cove’s Care Fund Scholarship to help pay for nursing school.

“Christine, Ashleigh, and Maria are compassionate, dedicated caregivers,” commented Cheryl Dobbelsteyn, Senior Executive Director of Senior Living Services and Administrator of Cove's Edge. “We are thrilled they are taking the next step in their healthcare careers to become registered nurses and will continue to provide excellent care to our community members.”

Established in loving memory of Beulah Isabelle Fabrick, RN and the estate of Carolyn Mercer, the fund provides scholarships to caregiving staff at Cove’s Edge and Chase Point. The scholarship can help pay for an undergraduate educational program or a program leading to a certification.

In addition to offering this scholarship to staff members, LincolnHealth offers tuition reimbursement to eligible employees and free educational opportunities. “LincolnHealth is committed to helping employees achieve their professional goals,” Dobbelsteyn added. “Christine and Ashleigh both began their healthcare careers through LincolnHealth’s free CNA class. Their experience as CNAs will serve them well in their studies and careers.”

Christine Barter is enrolled at Central Maine Community College in general education and nursing, Ashleigh Teele is enrolled at Central Maine Community College in Pre-Nursing, and Maria Genthner is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at the University of Maine at Augusta.
