Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees Welcomes Mary Vigeant, APRN

August 17, 2017

NORTH CONWAY, NH – The Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees voted to welcome Mary Vigeant, APRN to join them as Trustee of the North Conway based hospital. Vigeant is a Nurse Practitioner at the Emergency Department at Memorial and joined their medical staff in 2004.

Adding another member with a clinical background is part of an initiative to ensure a variety of experiences and skill sets are represented on the board. Vigeant joins James Glazer, MD, Marni Madnick, MD, Justino D. Fernandes, MD and Ray Rabideau, MD and Chief Medical Officer on the board.

Board President Laura Jawitz was pleased to welcome Vigeant to the board. “Mary is a long-time supporter of our mission and as a provider caring for patients in our Emergency Department. With her work doing outreach to students in the Valley and her involvement with other area non-profits such as Starting Point, she is clearly committed to caring for our community.”

Jawitz continued, “We felt it was important to have more medical staff on our board. Including a nurse practitioner brings a different perspective to our group. We are so pleased Mary is joining us.”

Vigeant stated, “It is both an honor and a privilege to participate and hopefully enhance our organization at the Board of Trustees level. For our Valley to enjoy optimal health, we as a population, must have the benefit of high quality health care services. Yet, the health care environment today faces challenges that it has never seen before. Critical access hospitals have unique needs in a rural community. Memorial Hospital has an essential role in our valley, of paramount importance, yet still is vulnerable within our national healthcare delivery system.”

Vigeant added, “My goal is to be a good and vigilant Board citizen, bringing both my work experience as a health care provider, as well as an active community member. Through our childhood health and wellness program I have been fortunate and gratified to participate in a wide variety of opportunities to interact with our children and school leadership. It is with pleasure and a deep commitment to our community that I will serve.”

Vigeant was clinically trained with board certified emergency physicians at Saint Luke's Hospital in Massachusetts. She gained further clinical expertise through the American College of Emergency Physicians with ongoing clinical medical education. She is civically active and is on the board as Vice President of Starting Point and President of the Roy Estey Network for Education on Water Safety. Vigeant added, "It is my privilege to serve the community of the valley. I truly enjoy spending time with my family and grandchildren, and exploring the outdoors in our gorgeous mountains!"
