Whitney: Office Coordinator in Norway

Meet Whitney

Meet WhitneyMaine Behavioral Healthcare’s practice management department keeps our administrative wheels turning, supporting clinical staff in the day-to-day operations at each practice office within the communities we serve*. Whitney Roberts joined us a year ago to provide medical support in our Norway office, and has quickly become a respected and valued team member.
After only a few months with the organization, Whitney learned that her colleagues in the Brunswick office were challenged due to a shortage of medical assistants. Without hesitation Whitney commuted over an hour each day to the Brunswick office to provide backup for six months until new staff could be put in place.
Whitney now serves as Norway’s Office Coordinator. She schedules appointments, runs reports, and continues to provide support to the office’s case manager, Shannon Dow

"Whitney is a true asset to our organization and particularly to this office, as she always puts the needs of our clients first," said Dow. "I really appreciate her support as she never hesitates to jump in with a smile and do what is needed."

As one of Maine Behavioral Healthcare’s smallest offices, it is used primarily to treat clients via tele-psychiatry, where a live video chat connects clients to providers throughout the community. The program is still in its infancy but holds the key to quickly expanding access to treatment to more rural parts of Maine.
“I schedule about 25 clients for tele-psychiatry a week,” Whitney said. “A lot of clients are hesitant to talk to a counselor through video chat when they first start, but afterward they tell me that they really liked it.”
Whitney earned her bachelor’s degree in mental health and human services, but has found that she actually prefers “behind-the-scenes” work as opposed to direct patient care. “This position is the perfect opportunity for me because I still get to know the clients when I greet them at the front desk, and I get to watch their progress.”
Proving that even one person can make a big difference in the lives of those around her, we are so proud of Whitney and all that she has contributed to Maine Behavioral Healthcare so far.
