Recent advances in technology allow many surgical procedures to be performed on an outpatient basis. Essential to the quality of our expert surgery team is our outstanding nursing support and caring staff.
Utilizing the experience of our skilled surgeons, we offer innovative laparoscopic surgery, using minimally invasive fiber optics that simplify our procedures, offering better outcomes to all our patients.
Our team of general surgeons are skilled and experienced in a range of major and minor procedures, performing more than 3,000 of them last year alone.
State-of-the Art Surgical Care
As advances in medicine translate into new standards for diagnosis and treatment of our patients, the demand and need for the latest in technological "tools" continues to grow. In response to this demand, Stephens Memorial Hospital is expanding and enhancing its capability for endoscopies and minor procedures and increasing its ambulatory surgery space.
The Surgical Suite
Increasingly, surgery is provided on an outpatient basis. This trend, along with increased use of new diagnostic surgical procedures such as endoscopies has created a pressing demand for additional ambulatory surgery space. Renovations and new construction, completed in June of 2004 provided additional operating facilities that will allow our many specialists to meet this demand.
The Endoscopy and Minor Procedures Suite
Endoscopies and minor procedures, previously booked into the busy operating room area, now have their own space on the first floor. The move not only opens the operating room for more complicated surgeries, it also provides added space and technology for endoscopic studies and minor surgical procedures. This suite will encompass two procedure rooms and four patient areas for preparation and recovery, offering privacy and convenience for our patients.
