What is the Maine Health Insurance Marketplace?

The Maine Health Insurance Marketplace is a service that helps people shop for affordable health insurance. Typically, 85% of Mainers receive financial assistance to make the plans more affordable.

American Rescue Plan

In March 2021, the American Rescue Plan was signed into law. It includes many benefits for the Affordable Care Act and Maine Health Insurance Marketplace:

  • An average decrease in health insurance premiums of $50 per person or $85 per policy. Half of consumers may even be able to find a plan for less than $10 per month.
  • Anyone below 150% of the Federal Poverty Level can enroll in a low cost premium plan.
  • These benefits will continue for 2022 health insurance plans!

When can I sign up for health insurance?

 The Open Enrollment period will be from November 1, 2021 to January 15, 2022.

Yes. There are two ways to apply and enroll on your own:

  1. Visit The “window shopping” tool allows you to quickly determine if you are eligible for financial assistance and review plans before applying.
  2. Call the Consumer Assistance Center at 866-636-0355.
