Memorial Hospital Offers Program to Help Patients with Prescription Costs

October 23, 2019

NORTH CONWAY, NH: Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce the addition of the MedAccess Program, which helps patients find low cost prescription drug options.

Funded by MaineHealth, the program is open to anyone who has trouble affording their medications, even if their primary provider’s office is not located at Memorial Hospital. MedAccess staff will work directly with patients and their physician to find ways to lower their medication costs.

“Navigating prescription assistance programs can be overwhelming for people,” said Christie Cannell, Prescription Assistance Case Manager at Memorial Hospital. “MedAccess makes that easier on patients. We will work with them and their provider’s office to make sure all paperwork is complete and follow-up until they get their medications.”

The program allows patients to apply for free medications through pharmaceutical companies, find less expensive generic alternatives, price check medications at different pharmacies, and find co-pay funding assistance.

Christie is a native of the Mount Washington Valley and was previously based in Portland, ME, managing a caseload for Maine residents statewide. The program was recently expanded to include Memorial Hospital, through MaineHealth.

“I have worked with patients in Maine for several years and always wanted to bring MedAccess to the Mount Washington Valley,” said Christie. “I am excited to return to the area and offer the program to locals.”

MedAccess can also provide patients with other ways to get medications through federal, state and local programs. There is no charge to patients or their doctor’s office for the services.

For more information and to apply, contact Christie at 603-356-5461 ext. 2503.
