Why Maine Medical Center: I grew up in Northern Wisconsin and love the “north”. On my trip to Maine to interview I felt right at home in the outside culture and natural beauty of the area. I also went the L.L. Bean outlet in Freeport and kind of fell in love (and spent waaaay too much money). Overall it was a great trip and I really saw Portland as live-able city compatible with my lifestyle. I was also looking for an academically inclined program with more of a community feel and really felt that Maine Med struck the perfect balance between an emphasis on academic medicine and the community program culture and training environment.
If I wasn’t a doctor, I would be a… cake baker- opening up a bakery/ extravagant cake decorating shop has always been my fallback plan in life

Why Maine Medical Center: For me, the question is why not Maine, as Maine Medical Center (MMC) is a gem. MMC has amazing teaching faculty, wonderful and supportive staff, brilliant and friendly co-residents, diverse patients (due in part to the state being immigrant-friendly), research opportunities and more all located in an idyllic setting.
